1. Stop interacting with the message
Pause before replying, tapping a button, opening an attachment or continuing a call. You do not need a complete explanation of what happened before deciding to stop. A message's demand for speed does not remove your opportunity to check separately.
A calm pause is useful even when the communication contains accurate details about you. Knowing a detail is different from having authority to request sensitive information.
2. Leave the supplied contact route unused
Do not use the supplied link or phone number to ask whether the communication is genuine. Those contact details are part of the same unconfirmed request. A second speaker or a new page reached through that route is not necessarily an independent source.
3. Keep credentials and codes private
Do not provide a password, recovery information or security code to the unexpected sender. A request described as a protective measure still needs scrutiny. Do not paste a code into a reply or read it aloud because someone claims that it will confirm your identity.
4. Locate a confirmed source independently
Use a trusted bookmark, an established app you already use or contact information obtained from a source you have confirmed separately. If you use search, read the destination carefully. An advertisement label or high result position does not prove that a page is the organization you intended to reach.
Independent means you chose the route without relying on the questionable communication to supply it. The fact that two routes use different formats, such as text and phone, does not make them independent when the original sender arranged both.
5. Ask through that confirmed source
Use the separately located channel to address your concern and follow its current instructions. Avoid assuming that a general guide can settle a particular case. Contact methods and reporting requirements may change, so check them at the official source at the time you need them.
6. Report through an appropriate official channel
Depending on the situation, reporting may involve the organization being impersonated, a messaging or search provider, or a relevant public authority. Use each recipient's current official instructions. Do not distribute sensitive information to multiple unconfirmed contacts in an effort to get an answer quickly.
Teamjieletric is not an incident-reporting service. We do not receive messages for verification, investigate events or provide account assistance. Our editorial contact is limited to general questions and corrections about published content. Do not submit incident details, links, account information or screenshots.
Keep this in mind
A separate, confirmed source breaks the original sender's control of the conversation.
